Regenerative Injection Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma Injections

What is PRP?

PRP is blood plasma with concentrated platelets. The concentrated platelets found in PRP contain huge resevoirs of bioactive proteins, including growth factors that are vital to initiate and accelerate tissue repair and regeneration. These bioactive protiens initiate connective tissue healing, bone regeneration and repair, promote developement of new blood vessels and even stimulate the wound healing process.PRP injections can now be done at the office of Dr. Dan Geller for localized delivery of these healing factors into injured ligaments, tendon and joints.

How does PRP work?

To prepare PRP, a small amount of blood is taken from the patient. The blood is then placed into a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins and automatically produces the PRP. The entire process takes about 15 minutesandincreases the concentration of platelets and growth factors up to 500%

What are the benefits are PRP treatment ?

Patients can expect to see a marked improvement in symptoms. By aiding our recovery system with the introduction of these bioactive molecules, the propensity for healing is magnified greatly. This all leads to a decrease in scar tissue and fibrosis, increase in range of motion, greater flexibility and subsequent strength. Diminished pain is a vital component of the procedure and while results vary mostof those who recievetreatment will experience great relief and overall marked improvement.By safely and effectively reducing pain and enabling athletes and non athletes alike to regain preinjury status we have eliminated the need forpotential painful surgery, time lost in rehab and the need for prolongedmedication.

How many injections will I need ?

While response to therapy does vary, most people will requirea series of 3 to 6 injections. Injections are normally placed 4 weeks a part.Recognizing that inflammation is a natural part of healing and a desired effect in PRP therapy, treatments may need to be modified to achieve the greatest results.
